"The Desired Results of Revival"
2 Chronicles 7:14
(Temple 12-16-07)
Intro: What is revival time all about? Revival is a positive
thing, not a negative.
REVIVALS ARE PURPOSED!
a. It is a time of self appraisal (Where am I?)
b. It is a time of confession of sin (What am I doing?)
c. It is a time of renewing out vows to God (What have I forgotten?)
d. It is a time of seeking His will for our lives (What is His
will for me?)
e. It is a time of once again finding the blessing of God (What
am I missing?)
THREE THINGS GOD SAID THAT HE WOULD DO:
1. Then will I hear from Heaven (Answered Prayer)
Psalms 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not
hear me: vs
Jeremiah 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee
great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
Proverbs 28:9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law,
even his prayer shall be abomination. vs
Jeremiah 29:10-14 For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy
years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform
my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD,
thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me,
and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me,
when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be
found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity,
and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places
whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you
again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.
2. And will forgive their sin (Forgiven Sin)
Psalms 32:1-32 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth
not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
Micah 7:18 Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity,
and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage?
he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in
mercy.
3. And will heal their land (The Blessing of the Lord)
Jeremiah 33:8-9 And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity,
whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their
iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed
against me. And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and
an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear
all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble
for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure
unto it.
WHEN TRUE REVIVAL COMES:
1. There Will Be Joy And Happiness - Psalms 16:11 Thou wilt
shew me the path of life: in thy presence [is] fulness of joy;
at thy right hand [there are] pleasures for evermore.
a. Joy - fulness of joy
b. Enjoyment - pleasures
2. There Will Be Holiness - 1 John 1:5 This then is the message
which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is
light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have
fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not
the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light,
we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ
his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Psalms 93:5 Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine
house, O LORD, for ever.
Psalms 96:9 O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear
before him, all the earth.
3. There Will Be Unity - 1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light,
as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and
the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Psalms 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant [it is] for brethren
to dwell together in unity!
Ephesians 4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in
the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:13 Till we all come in the unity
of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect
man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
Luke 22:32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not:
and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
4. There Will Be Worship - Nehemiah 9:1-6 Now in the twenty and
fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled
with fasting, and with sackclothes, and earth upon them. 2 And
the seed of Israel separated themselves from all strangers, and
stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers.
3 And they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the
law of the LORD their God one fourth part of the day; and another
fourth part they confessed, and worshipped the LORD their God.
4 Then stood up upon the stairs, of the Levites, Jeshua, and Bani,
Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Chenani, and cried
with a loud voice unto the LORD their God.
5 Then the Levites, Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabniah, Sherebiah,
Hodijah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah, said, Stand up and bless the
LORD your God for ever and ever: and blessed be thy glorious name,
which is exalted above all blessing and praise. 6 Thou, even thou,
art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens,
with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein,
the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all;
and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.
Psalms 85:6 Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may
rejoice in thee?
Psalm 100:1-5 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and
not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with
praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD
is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all
generations.
5. There Will Be Soul Winning - Psalms 51:12-13 Restore unto me
the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be
converted unto thee. (Joy and Soul Winning go together)
