I Was In The Spirit On The Lord’s Day
Rev 1:10-18
Text Vs 10, “I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day…”
Introduction:
We’ve been praying and expecting that the Lord will do great things in our services today! Our eleven week “Many Hands” Campaign begins today. Many, Many have been visited, and invited for this mornings service, and in the weeks to come. Tonight we begin a series of messages on, “What Kind of Hands Do We Need In Gospel Baptist Church?” Tonight's first message is entitled, “At Hand”.
Much preparation and prayer has gone into this one Lord’s Day, and subsequently the next ten that follows. Realize today that God has an eternal purpose for this service today according to Eph 3:11, “According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:” It is a “Diving Appointment”. It is not just another Sunday Service, NOT just another song, Not just another choir special, Not just another message, but decisions for your life and your eternity will be made today!
When I come to this pulpit, in my heart, I want more than anything is to be used of God! The right message for the right hour, and power from the Spirit of God to deliver it with boldness. I believe that God can and will speak to hearts today. I believe the sinner can be saved, the saint can be sanctified, AND we can all be drawn into a closer walk and communion with the Lord. AFTER ALL it is HIS DAY!
Then why don’t we see more changes in lives? In our text John “was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day…” How have you come this morning? If your ear is open, heart attentive, and the Spirit works, you too can experience goodness and greatness of the Lord!
Just What Can You Expect If Your Spiritually
Prepared For The Lord’s Day?
I. You Will Experience Him Speak
“10, I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, 11 ,Saying,”
A. No one else Calls out to you like He does! “Heard Behind” Gen 3:9, Noah, Paul-Damascus, Rev 22:17
B. No one else Communicates to you like He does!
“a great voice” Like no other voice in it’s message! John 17:17
C. No one else has the Clarity of voice like He does!
“as of a Trumpet” Clear in tone, in melody, & Harmony!
Vs, 15b “sound of many waters” Clear in sound!!
Did you come to church to hear the preacher preach, or did you come to church today to hear from God? Has and Does He speak to your heart?
II. You Will Experience His Sufficiently
“11, Saying, I am”
A. HE is our Course, “I AM Alpha & Omega”
-beginning & end (A-Z)
-Birth, Life and Death, of all things
-Salvation, Heaven and Hell for us
B. He is our Commitment, “ I AM … the First & Last”
-In all your life, you can trust Him, He knows the end
-In your trials, temptations, testing
-in your success and in your failures!
-UNCHANGING & ALWAYS THE SAME!
III. You Will Experience His Statutes
“11, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it”
A. Consider Him
-Like a Compass, Fix your life on Him!
-Not left us to our direction!!
-Focus on the real, not feelings, intuitions, others!
-No matter where you are in life, your compass can point to HIM
B. Chronicle His working in your life
C. Comply with His desires, it really is in your best interest!
Always is leading in and thru His Word
Doing is something else
IV. You Will Experience His Standing (Presence)
“12, And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; 13, And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps”
A. Clothed with a garment down to the foot...girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
White and Clean
OH, how about right clothing and completely clothed!

South Africans always wear uniforms-HEAVENS! !
B. Head and hairs were white like wool, as white as snow
Job 12: 12 Wisdom
C. Eyes were as a flame of fire;
Consuming & Penetrating
D. Feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace
Judgment
E. Voice as the sound of many waters.
All can and will hear this distinctive voice
F. In his right hand seven stars:
Power and Authority, over the pastors too!
G. Out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword
He speaks thru His Word
H. Countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
Imagine, Brighter & more beautiful than all creation
IT”S ABOUT HIM!!
OH MY FRIEND if you could only see past yourself, past others, and YES, past the pastor, AND SEE HIM!!
IF you don’t see Him today, you will see Him In the judgment day, He is not just the Lamb that was slain, but the Lion of the tribe of Judah. You’ll want to meet the Lamb today, NOT the Lion in eternity!!
V. You Will Experience Sorrow of Sin & Selfishness
“17, And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. “
A. When We Comprehend Him! Where did John fall!?!?
B. Then We Change Ourselves! Death to self, Gal 2:20
VI. You Will Experience ONLY The Satisfaction He Can Bring
“17, And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not;”
A. His Caress
Woman with issue of blood, virtue
What did John sense from His touch? Have YOU?
B. His Compassion
Died for those sins of John’s and ours too!
He will lift you up!!
Out of sin to salvation
Out of this world into Heaven
Off your face in Heaven, exalted thru Christ!!
C. His Charge
NO MORE FEARS!!
Notice RIGHT HAND of Strength & power
Might, Right, & Authority
Conclusion:
His Right Hand is out for you toady! John I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, but the Spirit was also in John, on the Lord’s Day!!!!
