JESUS AND HIS GLORY

Isaiah 53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great,
and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured
out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors;
and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the
transgressors.

Introduction: Now, in the 1st part of Isaiah 53 Isaiah sees a
CRUCIFIED Christ. But in V. 12 he sees a CROWNED Christ.

Why does Isaiah begin at the CROSS, skip over the entire church age,
and speak of the time of the CROWN?

It is clear that the prophets were not allowed to see the church age,
that special time, in between these two events.

The prophets actually thought these two events were closely related.
They saw Jesus SACRIFICED ON TIMBER and they saw Jesus SEATED on a
THRONE but they saw not the many centuries in between these two
gigantic events.
In their way of seeing the future, it's like this huge chunk
of church time didn't exist.

They saw Jesus as the SAVIOUR and they saw Him as the
SOVEREIGN; as the LAMB and as the LORD but not as the HEAD of a
special body called the church.
(When I use the word church, I use it as the New Testament uses it;
always a literal, local body of believers).

Now you and I can be sure of this.
HE HAS COME!
HE HAS GONE!..........BUT
HE'S COMING BACK.

He came the first time as a LAMB; He's coming back again as a LION.

Now Isaiah tells us two main things about JESUS AND HIS GLORY in
Isaiah 53:12.

1. HIS GLORY DECREED

Isaiah 53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great,
and he shall divide the spoil with the strong............

Now, have you pulled your chair up to the table, let's see if we can
open up some of the great truth in this verse for the glory of God.

Please see two key things about His glory here.

We will see first,
The Honour He Will Distribute and then
The Hammer He Will Drop.

A. THE HONOUR HE WILL DISTRIBUTE

Now some DIVIDING is in the works.

The Word of God says.

Isaiah 53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the
great........

The word divide means to APPORTION or to ASSIGN. God has decreed that
the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back one day to be KING..........for
1000 years.

He was CRUCIFIED in Jerusalem and He will return to the same spot to
be CROWNED.
Is God trying to tell us something here? The powers that be,
religion in cahoots with the gov't, thought they had rid themselves
of Jesus when they STUCK Him on a cross..........but in the same
spot, God will SEAT Him on a THRONE.
There is not enough fire power in the world combined to outdo
God!

And when He comes, He will distribute some honour. The CHOSEN will be
honoured and the CHRISTIAN shall be honored.

The CHOSEN people, Israel will be honoured in the kingdom and the
CHRISTIAN shall be honoured.

You recall that Paul in his book to the Romans tells us that a lot of
Jews will be saved in a day.

Romans 11:26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written,
There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away
ungodliness from Jacob:

There are many Scriptures covering the future of Israel. They will
play a prominent part in the millennial kingdom.

Isaiah 66:7-14 Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her
pain came, she was delivered of a man child. 8Who hath heard such a
thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring
forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as
Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. 9Shall I bring to the
birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the Lord: shall I cause to
bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God. 10Rejoice ye with
Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for
joy with her, all ye that mourn for her: 11That ye may suck, and be
satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out,
and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.
12For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a
river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then
shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon
her knees. 13As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort
you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem. 14And when ye see this,
your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb:
and the hand of the Lord shall be known toward his servants, and his
indignation toward his enemies.

That hasn't been fulfilled yet but shall be.

Illustration: Some people believe that the little liberal running
for president is the messiah. There is a website up touting him as
the messiah. Some believe he is greater than Jesus.

Listen to what the little liberal himself said, Jan. 7-08.
"... a light will shine through that window, a beam of light will
come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany ... and you will
suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote for Obama" -
Barack Obama Lebanon, New Hampshire. January 7, 2008.

You say that is just political talk. But God takes seriously what
politicians say to people. Check up and see what your Bible says
about Nebuchadnezzar and Herod; one ate grass and grubs ate the other
one.
An epiphany is a word to describe the appearance of deity. The little
liberal said you will experience the appearance of deity who will
direct you to vote for him.
That's really coming close to something akin to
Nebuchadnezzar and Herod.

One person said, "Obama is God"
He has been described as SON OF PROMISE, CHILD OF HOPE.

Another person said

"Barack Obama must be elected President of the United States... I
have thrown myself into a new world—by.... disciple-like devotion.
It's intense and intoxicating. ...

Another said, "You'll have to measure time by `Before Obama' and
`After Obama'"

And on and on it goes. And if these people can say such things about
their leader, I can say what the Word of God says about my LORD.

But the LIBERAL in the white house will need to step aside for the
LORD from the Father's House.

Oh Christian, listen to this.
Rev. 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment
was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded
for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not
worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his
mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and
reigned with Christ a thousand years.

Your future and mine lies not in POLITICIANS, of either party, but in
the PROMISES of God.

Victory comes not by a VOTE by the decree of God.

A. The Honour He Will Distribute

Isaiah 53:12.......... he shall divide the spoil with the
strong...........

Just as God crashed Belshazzar's bash; God will crash the party the
world is setting up and the crash will be heard around the world.

The next big event is the taking out of the world every child of God.
Read 1st Thessalonians chapter 4.

At that time tribulation breaks out on the planet.

The Holy Spirit will no longer act as the restrainer (2 Thess. 2:6—
8).

The world will rapidly descend into chaos.

Dreadful wars, famines, pestilences, and persecutions will be but the
beginning of the sorrows .

Universal upheavals will give rise to an outcry for a man, someone of
great influence and power, to take over the affairs of this globe.

Out of the sea he will arise (Revelation 13). He will be voted into
office with no opposition; a truly wonder man.

He will turn on the Jews, install his own image in the temple. He
will force a trade mark on every one.
A total economic boycott will be enforced against all who
refuse to worship this image or receive this mark.

The planet will become a suburb of hell. And then God's wrath will
fall.

The Antichrist will lose his grip.
The eastern part of his empire (the nations east of the River
Euphrates) will break away and mobilize against him.
The armies of the world, East and West, will be drawn to
Megiddo to decide the fate of the world.
But suddenly the Lord will invade, ablaze with glory, accompanied by
signs and wonders, surrounded by heavenly hosts, with all power at
His command—and it will be over (Read all about it in Matt. 24:30—31;
Rev. 19:11—21).

JESUS SHALL REIGN, my fellow soldiers of the cross..

Isaiah sets forth 4 things that explain why God will make Him King
over all.

Notice 4 things.

A. HOW GREAT THE PAIN

Isaiah 53:12......... because he hath poured out his soul unto
death......

Illustration: You remember when David was holed up in a cave with
some of his men. Saul's spies were everywhere. The Philistines held
considerable stretches of territory in the neighborhood. Even David's
hometown of Bethlehem was under Philistine control. The days were
hot, long, and tedious. Suddenly, David exclaimed,

2 Samuel 23:15 And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me
drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!

Immediately three of his men took off, and against overwhelming odds,
risking their lives, they were able to break through the enemy lines
and secure a container of water for David.

When they gave it to David, he was overtaken in humility and
gratitude.

How delicious it would have tasted.
How refreshing it would have been.
How tempting to drink it down.

But David, in the spirit of Christ, made a sacrifice and poured it
out on the ground.

He turned it into a drink offering to God. The whole camp watched the
water, flowing swiftly from the water skin, cascading down to the
ground. A costly sacrifice indeed!

That was what Jesus did. Only it was not just water that He poured
out; it was His soul, His very life.

He "poured out his soul unto death" was how the prophet put it.

He poured it out drop by drop in agony, in anguish, suffering, and
pain.

I have read this over many times and when I do, I say Lord,
for what Jesus did, I fully support your putting Him on the THRONE as
KING OF KINGS.

How Great The Pain

B. HOW GODLESS THE PEOPLE

Isaiah 53:12........ he was numbered with the transgressors.........

Think what that means!

The Sanhedrin placed Jesus alongside those who were guilty of revolt,
rebellion and resistance to lawful authority.

The only thing Jesus was guilty of was love in the first degree.

But He was branded, tagged and numbered right along with
transgressors because He took your place and mine.

I AM ALL IN FAVOR OF GOD MAKING HIM KING!

C. HOW GRACIOUS THE PROVISION

Isaiah 53:12.......... he bare the sin of many...........

The word for "sin" here means "to miss the mark." That is the word
the Holy Spirit uses to tell us that we do not measure up; that we
fall short of the divine standard.

Illustration: If, for example, to be a police officer, you have to
be at least 5:10..............if you are 5:9, you come short of the
requirement. You don't measure up.

And sin is the word that means we don't measure up.

But the CROSS made the difference for me.

Jesus measured up.

Look back in:

Isaiah 53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be
satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many;
for he shall bear their iniquities.

How Gracious the Provision

D. HOW GOOD THE PRAYER

Isaiah 53:12 ......... and made intercession for the transgressors.

You recall that Abraham was informed that God would burn to the
ground, incinerate the city of Sodom.

Abraham had a loved one living there and he went to prayer.

Abraham prayed that God would spare the city and God allowed Abraham
the intercessor to stand in the gap and Abraham pled with God and God
kept answering.
I note that when Abraham stopped interceding, it was then
that God proceeded with judgment but Lot was spared.

God heard Abraham's prayer of intercession and God hears the prayers
of His Son, who intercedes for us.

God, for Christ's sake, will spare your soul from death.

Those arms, once outstretched upon the tree, are still outstretched
to save. What more can He do? What more can be said?

AND FOR THAT, I AM ALL IN FAVOR OF GOD MAKING JESUS KING.
