Scripture, (2Cor.2:1-11)
Introduction, The background for the scriptures read is that one
of the members of Corinth Church had done a
Terrible sin, The Church had practiced a degree of ex-
Communication, and now the member had repented
And Paul encourages them to forgive him, Lest satan
Should get and advantage of them! The Devil is crafty
He seeks to get some kind of and advantage, that will
Put us at a dis-advantage.
(1) BY THE TIMING:
(Matt.4:1-2) And when he had fasted forty days and
forty nights ,he was afterward and hungery.(3) And
when the tempter came to him.
1. Time things happen? (leaving for campglory)
2.Time you feel bad? (right before Church)
3.Time you are about to pray?(phone rings)
(2) BY THE TALK:
(Matt.4:3) And when the tempter came to him,he said,
if thou be the son of God.
1.Talk makes you doubt the book,(Gen.3:1)Yea hath
God said?)
2. Talk that minimizes the cross,(Mt.16:22)be it far from
thee Lord)
3. Talk that discourages the saints,(1Kgs.19;2) Then
Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah.
(3) BY THE TEMPTATION:
(Matt.4:3) command that these stones be made bread.
1.Tempted to do something without the Lord,
(Matt.4:3)command these stones be made bread
2.Tempted to tempt the Lord,(Mt.4:6) cast thyself
down.
3.Tempted to put something else before the Lord,
(Mt.4:9)all these things I will give thee if thou will
fall down and worship me.
