Isa.9: 6 Isaiah tells of the birth of Christ and he says, “Unto us a child is given” I would ask of the Child the question the disciples ask of the Man Jesus
When he stilled the stormy waters, What manner of man is this?
Let us ask Isaiah, “What manner of Child is this?”
(1) HE WAS A WONDERFUL ONE:
(Isa.9:6) His name shall be called wonderful. Truly it was the
most wonderful Child ever born. This child was wonderful, and
full of wonders? He made his Parents wonder at birth, He made
the Doctors and lawyers wonder at twelve, He made the Disciples
wonder in a ship; He made the world to wonder at Death.
(a) He has a wonderful Father up above, (Jn.1:14) And the word was made
(b) He has a wonderful Mission here below, (Mt.1:21) thou shalt call his name
(c) He has a wonderful Effect on all that come to know him, (2Cor.5:17) if any
(2) HE IS WAS A WISE ONE:
(Isa.9: 6) His name shall be called wonderful, counselor. At twelve
years old
He amazed the doctors and Lawyers. People wonder where he got
such wisdom?
He was greater than Solomon! He was wise enough to know,
(a) He was wise enough, to handle the devil, (Mt.4) it is written
(b) He was wise enough to know how to answer the world, (Lk.20:24) (Mt.22:23-33)
(c) He was and is wise enough to help sinners, (Jn. 8) who is without sin
(3) HE IS WAS THE GOD ONE;
(Isa.9: 6) His name shall be called wonderful, counselor, the
mighty God, How true indeed the statement found in (1Tim.3:16)
Without controversery Great is the mystery of godliness; God was
manifest in the flesh.
(a) His Father was God, (Lk.1:35)
(b) He Favored his Father, (Jn.14:8-9)(Col.1:15)
(c) His Feats proved it, (Still storms, Opened blind eyes, Fed muiltudes,
Dismissed his spirit, Raised Himself from the dead)
(4) HE WAS THE EVERLASTING ONE:
(Isa.9:6) His name shall be called wonderful, counselor, the mighty
God, the everlasting father. As a baby, Jesus has a beginning,
But as God he has no beginning or end!
(a) His Kingdom is everlasting, (Isa.9:7) there shall be no end
(b) His Kindness and love is very lasting, (Rom.8:37-38)
(5) HE IS WITH MUCH HOPE, THE
COMING ONE:
(Isa.9:6) His name shall be called wonderful, counselor, the mighty
God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. All others have
failed, only he can Bring lasting peace.
(a) Peace between us and God, (Rom.5:1) therefore now being justified by faith
