Christmas Long Ago,
Christmas time again is here;
It's music is in the air.
There are people singing Christmas carols;
You can here them everywhere!
And just look out the window;
Behold the falling snow.
It kind of makes me reminisce
Of Christmas long ago.
I wonder, have you ever heard
The sound when sleigh bells ring?
Remember Yorkshire pudding;
And the songs the children sang?
Midnight church on Christmas eve;
Holly and mistletoe;
All these things remind me
Of Christmas long ago.
Paper chains and popcorn
Strung from a hemlock tree;
With Christmas lights of candles;
They are all so dear to me!
The fatted goose for dinner;
The snowballs we would throw.
All of these remind me
Of Christmas long ago.
Grandpa's Christmas story
When Jesus Christ was born.
I can see him tell it
As he did on Christmas morn.
Candy canes and apples
In stockings in a row.
They sure bring back the memories
Of Christmas long ago.
Skating on the frozen pond;
It sure did thrill our lives!
It looked just like a picture print
Of Currier & Ives.
Icycles in the windows'
Hills of glistening snow!
How I loved the splender
Of Christmas long ago.
There is magic in this season;
It's spreads o're all the earth.
Jesus is the reason,
Let's celebrate his birth!
And even though some things may change,
There is one thing we can know;
The meaning is still the same today,
As Christmas of long ago.
