WHAT THE World Has

Jeremiah 44:15-27

Chapter 44 is a picture of Judah's rebellious children in the land of Egypt. After all of Jeremiah's preaching and God's judgments, these people were still determined to go on their world-wise way. It was enough to make Jeremiah throw up his hands in despair and cry, "What's the use? It does show to us that the world considers itself to be sufficient in every respect.

I. The World Has Its OWN RELIGION. Jeremiah 44:15-17

A. It is idolatrous.

B. It is impotent.

C. It is insufficient. Revelation 3:17-18 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

II. The World Has Its OWN BIBLE. Jeremiah 44:23

A. It is self-centered.

B. It is style-conscious.

C. It is sin-calloused.

III. The World Has Its OWN DEDICATION. Jeremiah 44:24-27

A. In the light of past judgment it remains adamant.
B. In the face of faithful preaching it remains rebellious.
C. In the face of the prophetic judgments of devastation it remains stubborn.

In the face of so much worldly living we must not get discouraged and give up. God is still calling out a remnant, and we must occupy till He comes.
