“Preach the Word” 2 Timothy 4:2
One of the greatest needs of the world today is good, fundamental, bible preaching. We do not need more speaking we need more preaching. God called preachers to preach. (Text) 2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. Many could qualify to speak but only that God called man can preach.
Lets look at this ministry of preaching:
I. THE MAN OF PREACHING
A. HIS CHARACTER
1. Man of Salvation... 2 Timothy 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
2. Man of Separation... Titus 1:6-9 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly. For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre; But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate; Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
3. Man of Supplication... Ephesians 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
B. HIS CALLING ... 1 Timothy 1:11-12 According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust. And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
1. God entrusts a man to preach
2. God enables a man to preach
3. God employs a man to preach
II. THE MESSAGE OF PREACHING
A. PREACH THE GOSPEL... Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
This is to evangelize the sinner -
1. The Gospel's Precepts"... 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
2. The Gospel's Prospect ... John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
3. The Gospel's Power ... Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
B. PREACH THE WORD ... 11 Timothy 4:2
This is to stabilize the Saints
1. Producing Faith for his walk
2. Producing Fruit in his work
3. Producing Freedom in his worship
III. THE METHOD OF PREACHING
