“WEEPING” Judges 2:1-5

Over and over in the bible we find Israel weeping.

1. IN EGYPT - IN BONDAGE OF THE DEVIL: Exodus 2:23 The children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage.

Egypt a type of the world. Pharaoh a type of the devil.

2. IN THE WILDERNESS - IN BONDAGE OF DOUBT:

Many have been the times when people have doubted God, and were turned to tears.

3. IN BABYLON – IN BONDAGE OF DISCONTENT:

Psalms 137:1 By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.

4. IN BOCHIM - IN BONDAGE OF DISOBEDIENCE:

Judges 2:5 And they called the name of that place Bochim: and they sacrificed there unto the LORD.

The word bochim signifies weepings or lamentations;

a. The Reminder = Judges 2:1 And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you.

b. The Rebellion Judges 2:2 And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this?

c. The Retribution Judges 2:3 Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.

d. The Regret Judges 2:4 And it came to pass, when the angel of the LORD spake these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.

We will be turned to tears:

I. WHEN WE FORGET SOME THINGS:

A. OUR HUMBLE BEGINNING:
B. OUR HELP COMES FROM GOD:

II. WHEN WE FORSAKE SOME THINGS:

A. OUR STYLE OF LIVING:
B. OUR SANTUARY OF WORSHIP
C. OUR SOURCE OF SUPPLY:

III. WHEN WE FAIL IN SOME THINGS:

A. TO RESEMBLE GOD'S SON:
B. TO RESIST GOD'S ENEMY:
C. TO REMEMBER GOD'S WORD:
D. TO REST IN GOD'S WILL:_
